Nobody told me Dan Perdue died until I came across his memorial scholarship fund today (Daniel Perdue memorial scholarship on Facebook). I never answered his last email because I was waiting until I knew how. Now it’s too late. That’s okay though. He had been teaching me about mortality since we had net, and that we had met implied that we would part. And we did, and I’m ashamed of myself I didn’t know until now. I mentioned him many times since his November death from pancreatic cancer. I mention him every chance I get. I’m so proud he passed on all the best pieces of himself to all of us students who loved him so deeply. His body is gone but he is still here present in me, and I know it’s true for all his other Buddhism, Asian medicine, and Hindu students. As he always ended his emails, Cheers.
